About High Tide Harbor Tours

Our captain

Thirty years on the water, most of them right here

Captain Dan Stoll has held a commercial license since 1984 and has sailed yachts on almost every coastline worth mentioning.

Captain Dan received his first maritime license in 1984 while based in Florida, and spent the decades since running yachts through the Florida Keys, Nova Scotia, the Caribbean, the Great Lakes, Cuba, and the Mediterranean coasts of Italy, Greece, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, France and Spain.

He is also well versed in the parts of the job nobody sees from the dock: firefighting, CPR, offshore rescue, first aid, sinking and survival techniques, and at sea mechanical repair. Every one of those credentials stays current, not just the license.

Now based on the Carolina coast, Captain Dan navigates the waters around Charleston, Myrtle Beach, Cape Fear, Hilton Head, Beaufort and Savannah, and personally crews or oversees every charter High Tide runs.

That range is why guests hear the real story behind Fort Sumter instead of a script, and why the captain can read an afternoon squall well before it ever reaches the harbor.
